Description
Extension Cable for the Shelly Flood Gen4
The included 2 m sensor cable of the Shelly Flood Gen4 is long enough for a washing machine or dishwasher, but falls short in larger spaces, long pipe shafts, or multiple risk areas in one room. With the Shelly Leak Sensor Cable, you add 2 m of detection length per cable. By connecting multiple cables in series, the total coverage can be scaled up to 150 m, without additional sensors or configuration.
Detection and Material
The cable consists of a conductive polymer on the outside and an insulated polymer on the inside. As soon as water touches the conductive surface – at any point of the cable – the Flood Gen4 detects it immediately. The cable reacts to tap water, rainwater, air conditioning condensate, and extinguishing water. After drying, the cable can be reused without problems.
Connection and Placement
Both ends are equipped with a 3.5 mm jack connector. The cable connects to the Shelly Flood Gen4 or to another Shelly Leak Sensor Cable for further extension. Thanks to its flexible design, the cable can be easily laid along walls, floors, under appliances, or in technical rooms. With Shelly Cable Brackets (10 pieces per pack, sold separately), you can neatly secure the cable.
Application in combination with Home Assistant
The Shelly Leak Sensor Cable itself has no electronics or protocol: all intelligence resides in the Shelly Flood Gen4. Connect the cable to the sensor and the device will automatically report to Home Assistant via WiFi or Zigbee, exactly as configured. No additional setup or entities required.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Shelly Leak Sensor Cable work with sensors other than the Flood Gen4?
No, the cable is exclusively compatible with the Shelly Flood Gen4. The connector and detection principle are specifically designed for this sensor.
How many cables can I connect?
You can connect multiple Shelly Leak Sensor Cables in series up to a maximum total length of 150 m. This includes the cable supplied as standard with the Flood Gen4.
Do I need to configure anything in Home Assistant after connecting an extra cable?
No. The cable is a passive component without electronics. The Shelly Flood Gen4 detects water along the entire cable length and automatically reports this to Home Assistant, without additional configuration.
Can the cable get wet without wearing out?
Yes, the cable is reusable. After the cable dries, it will function normally again. The cable is not intended for permanent submersion.
How do I neatly secure the cable along a wall or floor?
Shelly Cable Brackets (10 pieces per pack) are sold separately and are specially designed to attach the cable neatly along walls, floors, or skirting boards without drilling.
Does the cable also detect condensation or humidity?
No, the cable only detects direct contact with water on the surface. Humidity or condensation on the cable will not activate the sensor under normal circumstances. If in doubt, set the State Hold Time on the Shelly Flood Gen4 to filter out momentary contacts.
