At slimhuisje.nl, we believe it's important that you're satisfied with your purchase. That's why we offer a warranty in accordance with Dutch law. Below, you'll find all the information about our warranty terms and conditions.
1. Legal warranty
If you buy an item through slimhuisje.nl, you can assume it's in good condition and will function as expected under normal use. However, it's always possible that you might be dissatisfied and want to return your item or register it for repair. There are certain rules involved. To avoid any surprises, you can read all the information and rules on this page.
In the Netherlands, the statutory warranty applies. This means that a product must do what you can reasonably expect from it. If a product becomes defective within a reasonable period of time and the defect is not caused by incorrect use or installation, we will repair, replace, or refund the purchase price free of charge.
2. Warranty periods
The warranty period varies per product category.
- Smart home products and electronics: 2-year warranty
- Repair parts and installation materials: No warranty in case of incorrect use or installation (see article 4)
- Services (such as repair or installation service): 3 months warranty on work performed
Some items have a limited or no manufacturer's warranty. Consider, for example, consumables like non-rechargeable batteries, screen protectors, solder paste, or thermal paste.
Please note: Some products have a manufacturer's warranty that may extend beyond the statutory warranty. We recommend consulting the packaging, manual, or manufacturer's website for more information about the manufacturer's warranty.
What about second-hand products?
These are items that have been used for demonstration purposes or returned. After a thorough inspection by our specialists, they are given a second life.
You receive the full warranty on these second-chance products, just as you do with new products. Exchanging a second-chance product for a new one is not possible. If repair is not possible, you will receive a comparable second-chance product if available. If this is not possible, you may receive a (partial) refund of the purchase price.
3. Manufacturer's warranty
The manufacturer of your ordered item may offer a manufacturer's warranty. If an item breaks during the warranty period, you are entitled to repair or replacement. You will not be charged for this repair or replacement. The broken item must meet the manufacturer's warranty conditions and must have been used normally.
Warranty terms vary by manufacturer. Your item's packaging often includes a booklet outlining the manufacturer's warranty terms.

4. Legal warranty (continued)
Has the manufacturer's warranty expired or is the defect no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty? Then you also have the statutory warranty. This warranty means that your purchased item must meet the promised standards and what you could reasonably expect. You can refer to the manufacturer's warranty conditions for this. If you discover that your item is no longer compliant, you can contact us . Expiration of the manufacturer's warranty doesn't always mean that the warranty is no longer valid.
If the item breaks during the warranty period through no fault of your own, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement. You won't have to pay for this repair or replacement. Whether you're entitled to this depends on your specific situation.

5. Warranty certificate
Your item's warranty certificate is always required for warranty claims; the invoice or proof of purchase is usually sufficient. This is always sent by email after ordering, and you can also find it in your account .
6. Warranty claim
If your item breaks during the warranty period, you may be entitled to repair or replacement. You won't have to pay for the repair or replacement. Whether you're entitled to this depends on your specific situation. Below, we've outlined your options for each situation.
Within the return period
Did you order an item that was broken upon receipt and hasn't yet passed the return period? You can return the broken item and order a new one. Returns are always free in this case. Contact our customer service , and we'll quickly get you a working item.
You should contact our customer service as soon as possible (within 48 hours) if you have received a damaged item.
Outside the return period
First, check whether the defect and its cause fall under the warranty. If so, or if you're unsure, please contact our customer service and we'll find a solution as quickly as possible.
Warranty period expired
If the warranty period has expired, the product has not been used normally, or it does not meet the other warranty conditions that apply to the item, we can repair the product for a fee, provided the item can still be repaired. We will only repair your item after you have given permission, so you won't have any unexpected costs. Before the repair is carried out, you will first receive an estimate of the costs.
You can then choose:
- have it repaired for a fee
- return without repair (you will then pay the investigation costs of €35)
- If possible, have a repairman come to your home. After the inspection, you decide not to have the repair done (you will then pay the €80 inspection fee).
- free recycling (not possible for all items)
How long does a repair take?
A repair usually takes 15 business days, but we always try to complete it faster. We'll send an email with every update on the repair. If your item is being repaired at home, it can often be done the same day.
If a broken item isn't covered by the warranty, repairs may take a little longer. We won't start until you've given us permission, so you won't have any unexpected repair costs.
7. Exceptions to the warranty
The warranty will be void in the following cases:
- Defects caused by incorrect installation or use contrary to the manual.
- Damage due to falls, impact or water damage, unless stated otherwise.
- Repairs or modifications carried out by third parties without our permission.
- Products used for commercial purposes (unless specifically stated).
- Parts subject to wear and tear, unless there is a manufacturing defect.
8. Installation of repair parts
Some repair parts require specific expertise:
- SMD soldering experience may be required for certain components.
- Some products may only be installed by a certified electrician.
If a product malfunctions due to improper installation or insufficient technical knowledge, the warranty is void. If in doubt, we recommend contacting our customer service before installing the part.
9. How do I request a warranty?
To claim warranty, follow these steps:
- Send an email through our contact page with:
- Your order number.
- A clear description of the problem and how it arose (if known).
- Photos and/or videos showing the defect (if possible).
- You can also send photos/videos via WhatsApp Send it to us, stating your order number and the problem.
- Once we receive your request, we will contact you within 2 business days to discuss the next steps.
10. Returns under warranty
If we ask you to return the product:
- Please pack the product carefully to prevent further damage during transportation.
- Please include a copy of your invoice and a brief description of the problem.

Postage costs:
- If the defect is covered by the warranty, we will reimburse the return costs.
- If the defect is not covered by the warranty (for example due to incorrect use), you will be responsible for the return and investigation costs.
11. Warranty on services
Services such as repairs and installations are covered by a three-month warranty (unless otherwise stated) on work performed. Should anything go wrong within this period as a result of our work, we will resolve it free of charge.
