Want to know how much power a device consumes and switch it remotely from Home Assistant? The Nous A1Z combines these features in one compact Schuko plug. The A1Z measures power, voltage, and current in real-time, switches via Zigbee 3.0, and simultaneously acts as a Zigbee Router to strengthen your network. Power and Connectivity

The Nous A1Z operates on 230V AC via a Type F (Schuko) plug and consumes less than 0.5W in standby. Communication takes place via Zigbee 3.0; because the device is permanently powered, it also functions as a Zigbee Router and automatically strengthens your Zigbee network. You will need a Zigbee coordinator, a Tuya Zigbee gateway, or Homey to use the plug.

Energy Monitoring and Switching Function

The A1Z measures real-time power (watts), voltage (volts), and current (amperes). Via Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA, all measured values are available as separate entities in Home Assistant. The maximum load is 3680W with a peak current of 16A and a continuous load of up to 10A (2300W). A physical button on the device manually switches the connected device on or off, even if the Zigbee connection is lost.

Overload Protection

Pairing Procedure via Zigbee2MQTT

• Put Zigbee2MQTT in pairing mode via the interface or the HA dashboard.
• Plug the A1Z into the power socket.
• Press and hold the button on the plug for 5 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
• The device will automatically appear as Nous A1Z in Zigbee2MQTT.
• In HA, go to Settings > Devices & Services > MQTT; the plug will appear as a new device.

Nous Smart Home App

Via the Nous Smart Home app and a compatible Tuya Zigbee gateway (e.g., Nous E1, E7, or E15), you can set up the plug and link it to automations. Add the device via the app and choose Smart Plugs > Nous A1Z. Alexa and Google Home can be linked via this app for voice control.

Homey

NOUS has an official app available for Homey via the Homey App Store (actively maintained). Check the app page for the current list of supported devices to confirm that the A1Z is listed. Example 1 – Turn off device at standby consumption

• Trigger: sensor.nous_a1z_power drops below 2W and has been at this level for more than 10 minutes.
• Condition: time is between 23:00 and 07:00.
• Action: turn off switch.nous_a1z and send push notification "Television turned off in standby."

Example 2 – Track and report daily energy consumption

• Use the Riemann Sum integration in HA to convert sensor.nous_a1z_power to kWh consumption per day.
• Trigger: time is 22:00.
• Action: send push notification with the daily consumption of the connected device in kWh.
