Aqara FP300 | mmWave Multisensor on battery | PIR + 60GHz
The Aqara FP300 is the first fully wireless , battery-powered mmWave multi-sensor that combines five functions: an advanced mmWave presence sensor with a PIR sensor (dual detection), light intensity, temperature, and humidity. This unique mmWave multi-sensor uses 60GHz mmWave radar technology to detect presence (even still people) up to 6 meters away, supplemented by a PIR sensor for instant motion detection. Thanks to its energy-efficient dual-sensing technology, this battery-powered mmWave sensor works for up to 3 years via Zigbee or 2 years via Thread. With support for Thread (Matter) or Zigbee, the Aqara FP300 works directly with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
Note: Thread (Matter) requires a Thread Border Router. For Zigbee mode, an Aqara Zigbee Hub is recommended for advanced features.
Key Features
Unique mmWave on battery combination
As one of the first battery-powered mmWave occupancy sensors, the Aqara FP300 eliminates the need for cables and electrical outlets. Its 60GHz mmWave multisensor detects presence with millimeter precision, while its energy-efficient design allows for up to three years of operation on two CR2450 batteries.
Dual detection: mmWave with PIR sensor
The Aqara FP300 combines the best of both worlds: the fast response of a PIR sensor (for motion detection) with the accuracy of a 60GHz mmWave occupancy sensor (for stationary people). This mmWave-PIR sensor approach prevents the sensor from reporting "no one present" when you're quietly reading, working, or watching TV.
Complete mmWave multisensor: 5-in-1 detection
This mmWave multi-sensor measures everything you need: presence (mmWave + PIR), motion, light intensity (lux), temperature (°C), and humidity (%). Save on multiple sensors by having everything in one compact, battery-powered device. The 120° field of view covers up to 6 meters.
AI optimization filters false positives
Advanced AI algorithms ensure that this mmWave presence sensor ignores pets, robot vacuums, curtains, and fans. The sensor learns spatially and becomes increasingly accurate in distinguishing actual presence.
Thread (Matter) & Zigbee dual protocol
The Aqara FP300 is Aqara's first dual-protocol mmWave multi-sensor . In Thread mode, it works hub-free with Matter platforms. In Zigbee mode, you get access to Aqara's exclusive features such as AI spatial learning, adjustable mmWave sensing ranges, and individual sensor switching.

Practical applications
mmWave desk lighting without cables
Place this battery-powered mmWave sensor at your workstation. The mmWave presence sensor detects when you're at your desk (even without movement) and automatically turns on the lights at low light levels. No wires or outlets required.
Bathroom with mmWave + PIR detection
The mmWave with PIR sensor combination ensures the light stays on, even when you're standing still in the shower. The PIR sensor ensures quick activation, while the mmWave keeps the light on as long as you're present.
Energy-efficient climate control
Use the mmWave multi-sensor for smart climate control: IF presence AND temperature > 28°C, THEN turn on the air conditioning. If you're away for more than 30 minutes, set the heating to 10°C. All sensors in one device.
Bedroom night mode
The Aqara FP300 mmWave presence sensor detects when you get up during the night and only turns on a dimmed night light (based on light value), without waking your partner.
Installation
Thread (Matter) mode:
- Insert two CR2450 batteries into the Aqara FP300 .
- Open your Matter platform (e.g. Apple Home, Google Home).
- Scan the Matter QR code on the sensor or in the manual.
- Mount the mmWave multisensor in the desired location with the adjustable bracket.
- The sensor can be used directly in your automations.
Zigbee mode:
- Insert two CR2450 batteries into the sensor.
- Open the Aqara Home app and add a new device.
- Follow the instructions to pair the mmWave battery sensor to your Aqara Hub.
- Adjust settings (mmWave detection range, PIR sensitivity, delays, enable/disable sensors).
- Mount the sensor and test its operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a battery-powered mmWave sensor so special?
Until now, mmWave occupancy sensors like the Aqara FP2 required a fixed power supply (USB). The Aqara FP300 is one of the first battery-powered mmWave multi-sensors , meaning you can place it anywhere without cables or outlets. This makes installation much more flexible.
What is the difference between mmWave and PIR?
A PIR sensor detects rapid movement but misses people sitting still. An mmWave presence sensor uses 60GHz radar and detects even the slightest movements (breathing, typing). The Aqara FP300 combines both: mmWave with a PIR sensor for fast response and reliable presence detection.
How long does the battery of this mmWave multisensor last?
Up to 3 years in Zigbee mode and up to 2 years in Thread mode with normal use. You can disable sensors you don't need (e.g., light or humidity) in the Aqara Home app to further extend the battery life of this battery-powered mmWave sensor.
Does the Aqara FP300 work with Home Assistant?
Yes, this mmWave multisensor works via Matter (Thread mode) or via Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA (Zigbee mode). In Zigbee mode via Zigbee2MQTT you get access to all sensors, including the separate mmWave and PIR settings.
What is the difference between the Aqara FP300 and FP2?
The FP300 is a battery-powered mmWave multi-sensor with 5-in-1 sensing (occupancy, light, temperature, and humidity), but without zoning. The FP2 is wired (USB), supports up to 30 detection zones, but lacks built-in environmental sensors. Choose the Aqara FP300 for wireless flexibility and multi-sensing, and the FP2 for precise zoning.
Does this mmWave presence sensor also detect pets?
No, the AI algorithms in this mmWave with PIR sensor are specifically trained to ignore pets, robot vacuums, and other disruptive objects. In Zigbee mode with an Aqara HUB, you can further adjust the sensitivity to minimize false alerts.
