Accurate Detection Without Missed Moments

Ordinary PIR motion sensors often miss a person working at a desk or reading on the couch because there is too little movement to detect. The SNZB-06P24 solves this with a 24GHz mmWave radar that also registers micro-movements such as hand gestures or chest movement during breathing, making presence detection much more stable.

Power and Connectivity

The sensor communicates via Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4) and therefore requires a compatible Zigbee coordinator or hub to function. Power is supplied via USB-C, 5V/0.5A; no batteries are required or included.

Safety and Reliability

The sensor cannot reliably detect a sleeping person because chest movement during sleep is too subtle for the radar. The self-learning noise filtering reduces false triggers from fixed interference sources but does not protect against moving disturbances such as wandering pets or robot vacuum cleaners. The device is intended for indoor use only, with an operating temperature of -10 °C to 60 °C and a humidity of 0 to 90% RH non-condensing.

Home Assistant

The SNZB-06P24 can be integrated into Home Assistant via both ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT. Due to its fixed USB-C power supply, the device acts as a Router in the Zigbee network. Pairing proceeds as follows: put the coordinator in pairing mode in Home Assistant, press and hold the button on the sensor for approximately 5 seconds until the LED flashes, and wait for the device to appear in the interface. After pairing, entities for presence (occupancy), illuminance, and, depending on the quirk used, per-zone status will appear. Local control without the cloud is confirmed via ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT; the manufacturer's eWeLink app works via the cloud but is not necessary for HA users.

Homey

For use with Homey, a Homey Pro is required, as only this has a built-in Zigbee radio; the regular Homey Bridge does not directly support Zigbee devices. Pairing is done via a community app for SONOFF Zigbee devices in the Homey app store. Advanced features such as the 7 separate detection zones and detailed light sensor calibration may not be fully available in Homey, unlike Home Assistant.

Other Platforms

Via the eWeLink app and associated cloud connection, the sensor can also be used with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings for voice status and simple automations. For Apple Home, a Matter Bridge is required, for example, a ZBBridge-U or iHost with a SONOFF Zigbee dongle, which exposes the device via Matter.

Automation Examples

• Everyday: if the sensor detects presence and the measured illuminance drops below 50 lux, turn on the desk lamp; turn it off automatically after 5 minutes of no presence reported.
• Advanced: if presence remains active for 120 minutes uninterrupted in the study room & the time is between 09:00 and 18:00, send a push notification "time for a break" to your phone via the Home Assistant app.
