MOES Smart Curtain Robot: Make your existing curtains smart in an instant
Automating existing curtains without replacing your entire rail or fabric? That's the smart idea behind the MOES Smart Curtain Robot. This compact, wireless robot clamps directly onto your existing curtain rail or rod and physically moves the curtains back and forth for you. Ideal for proactively protecting your home from the sun, increasing your privacy, or waking up comfortably.
Unique: Built-in Light Sensor (Lux meter)
What truly sets this MOES curtain robot apart from many alternatives on the market is the built-in ambient light sensor on the back. Because the robot sits flush against the window, it accurately measures the intensity of incoming sunlight. This allows you to have the curtains close automatically as soon as the sun shines brightly on the glass. This way, you keep the heat out in the summer and protect your furniture from discoloration, without having to buy a separate external sensor!
Wireless comfort via Zigbee 3.0
The MOES curtain robot runs entirely on batteries (3x AA), so you don't have to run unsightly power cables to your windows. Thanks to the efficient Zigbee 3.0 protocol, the batteries last up to 120 days with normal use. A Zigbee gateway is required to operate the robot. With this, you can seamlessly connect it to the MOES app, Tuya Smart Life, or your own local smart home system.
Complete kit including FREE Roman Rod accessory
At slimhuisje.nl, we love complete solutions. Where the basic version of this robot is often only supplied with a standard rail adapter, with us you receive this extended kit version. This means that you get the Roman Rod accessory (for traditional round curtain rods) completely free. Whether you have a U-rail, I-rail, or a Roman curtain rod; you can get started right away.
Powerful functionalities
- Strong motor: With a maximum load capacity of no less than 8 kg, this robot effortlessly opens and closes even heavier or blackout curtains.
- Percentage positioning: Set your curtains to exactly 20%, 50%, or 100% open via the app or automations.
- Pull-to-Start: Give the curtain a small tug manually and the motor immediately understands what to do and automatically takes over opening or closing for you.
- Obstacle detection: Does the curtain get stuck behind an object? The robot stops immediately and automatically to prevent damage to the motor or your curtain fabric.
Integration with Home Assistant & Homey
Home Assistant (ZHA & Zigbee2MQTT)
The MOES Curtain Robot (model ADCBZI01) works 100% locally and privacy-first with Home Assistant via ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. As the device is battery-powered, it appears as an energy-efficient Zigbee End-Device in your network.
Pairing procedure: Press and hold the physical reset button on the robot for 5 seconds until the blue indicator light starts flashing. Put your Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA coordinator in pairing mode to add the device directly. After pairing, a cover entity will appear on your dashboard, allowing you to precisely control its position.
💡 Advanced tip (Calibration): This model uses well-known Tuya hardware. In some Home Assistant environments, it may be necessary to calibrate the exact start and end points once via the Tuya-covering cluster in your Zigbee network settings, so that the opening percentages exactly match your physical curtain.
Homey Pro & Homey Bridge
For Homey users, the curtain robot can be easily connected via the Universal Tuya Zigbee Device App. Please note that advanced calibration options within the Homey ecosystem may sometimes be more limited than in Home Assistant.
Smart automations in practice
- ☀️ Comfortable waking up: Create an automation that gently opens your curtains 30% every morning at 7:30 AM, allowing natural daylight to help you wake up.
- 🌡️ Climate control (Sun protection): Connect the built-in light sensor. As soon as the measured light intensity at the window rises above a certain threshold, the curtains automatically close to keep the heat out.
- 🔒 Presence simulation: Have the curtains close at varying times in the evening when you're on vacation, so the house always looks occupied.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are the batteries included?
No, the required 3x AA batteries (1.5V) are not included as standard. We recommend using quality alkaline or lithium batteries for the longest lifespan.
How does the built-in light sensor work in Home Assistant?
The robot has a physical light sensor that measures light intensity (Lux). As this is a battery-powered device (Zigbee End-Device), the sensor is in 'sleep mode' to save battery power. It therefore primarily transmits its readings when the motor starts moving or during very large, abrupt changes in light. If you want real-time light measurements per minute to control other devices, we recommend using a separate, dedicated Zigbee light sensor.
Do I need a hub for this curtain motor?
Yes, as this is a Zigbee 3.0 model, it does not work standalone on Wi-Fi. You need a Zigbee coordinator (such as a Home Assistant server with Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2) or a Homey Pro/Bridge.
Does this product also work with Apple HomeKit?
No, Apple HomeKit is not officially supported via the documentation. However, you can pass the robot through to Apple Home via Home Assistant using the HomeKit integration.
