The chain mechanism of your existing roller blind disappears, the MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit Bluetooth slides into the tube and takes over. Without additional accessories, you can control the motor via the patented cord. Thanks to Bluetooth, the motor communicates directly with the Motionblinds app on your smartphone and with Home Assistant with Bluetooth; a bridge is not required for this. If you also want to control the blinds outside your home network, the WiFi Bridge (MB005) is a useful addition. A remote control is sold separately and not included.

Power and Connectivity

The motor communicates directly with the Motionblinds app and Home Assistant via Bluetooth. A WiFi Bridge is not required for local control, but it does offer the possibility to control the blinds outside your home network. Power is supplied via a built-in rechargeable battery with a USB-C connection; in an average household, charging a few times a year is sufficient, depending on curtain size and frequency of use.

Suitable for roller blind tubes with an outer diameter of 25 to 31 mm. Maximum curtain size: 240×190 cm or 180×240 cm (W×H). The motor supports up and down movement and is adjustable via the Motionblinds app or remote control. Each MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit can be set up without a remote control thanks to the patented cord. The motor is available in white.

Expansion and Accessories

For control outside your home network, the MotionBlinds WiFi Bridge is an optional addition, sold separately. If you want to add Matter support, the MotionBlinds Matter Bridge CM-55 is the right choice, also soon available via slimhuisje.nl. For multiple curtains, you control everything via the MotionBlinds Remote 5 Channel. You charge it via the MotionBlinds USB-C cable.

Safety and Reliability

Because the chain mechanism completely disappears, you remove a potential hazard for children and pets. Manual control via the cord always remains available as a fallback, even without power or connection.

Home Assistant

The MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit Bluetooth connects directly to Home Assistant via the official Motionblinds Bluetooth integration, no bridge required. Pairing procedure:

• Ensure Home Assistant has a Bluetooth dongle or Bluetooth proxy within range.
• Home Assistant automatically discovers the motor via the Motionblinds BLE integration.
• After pairing, entities such as cover.living_room_roller_blind with position control and battery percentage appear.
• Control is fully local, even without an internet connection.

Homey

Works with Homey Bridge and Homey Pro via the official Motionblinds app. Control and automations via flows are fully supported. Matter is not available via Homey on this motor without CM-55.
