Description
Two channels, one module
The Shelly 2PM Gen3 fits behind an existing wall switch and adds two independently switchable relay channels, each with its own energy measurement. The module functions as a dual switch for lighting or appliances, but can also be configured as a blind controller for roller shutters, Venetian blinds, or screens. This makes it suitable for almost any living room or bedroom setup.
Power supply and connectivity
The module operates on 110-240V AC (50/60 Hz) or 24-30V DC and requires a neutral wire (N) for AC power. Wireless connection is via WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0. The Shelly 2PM Gen3 does not have Zigbee or Matter; these are reserved for the Gen4 variant. The module acts as a WiFi range extender and Bluetooth Gateway for other devices in your network.
Functionality and settings
Each channel switches up to 16A and measures voltage (V), current (A), power (W), and energy (kWh) separately. Via the built-in web interface or Shelly Smart Control app, you can set the device profile as a switch or as a blind controller. In blind mode, you control up and down movement via one module, including calibration of end positions and slat control.
Other functions: 20 configurable schedules, webhooks, scripting via the built-in script engine, MQTT, WebSocket, and KNX net/IP. Overload protection is built-in. OTA firmware updates are automatic.
Expansion and accessories
Combine the Shelly 2PM Gen3 with a wireless switch for wall control without additional wiring. For blind installations with multiple screens or roller shutters, combine it with other blind modules. The 2PM Gen3 works well with other Shelly modules in existing installations.
Home Assistant
The Shelly 2PM Gen3 connects locally via the official Shelly integration in Home Assistant using the RPC protocol. No cloud required after initial setup. Tilt support for slat control is available after activating the Cover profile and calibration in the device settings.
Pairing procedure (WiFi/Shelly integration)

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a hub to use the Shelly 2PM Gen3?
No. Via WiFi, the device works standalone on your local network. Home Assistant automatically detects the module via the Shelly integration (Settings > Devices & services), without additional hardware.
Can I use the 2PM Gen3 for blind control?
Yes. Set the device profile to Cover via the web interface or Shelly Smart Control app. After calibrating the end positions, Home Assistant controls the blinds via a cover entity with percentage position. Slat control is available after activation in the settings.
How do I pair the module with Home Assistant?
Connect the module to your WiFi network via the Shelly Smart Control app or the built-in web interface. Home Assistant will then automatically detect the device via the Shelly integration. Confirm the pairing and name the device.
Does the Shelly 2PM Gen3 have Zigbee or Matter?
No. The Gen3 line only works via WiFi and Bluetooth. Zigbee and Matter are available in the Shelly Gen4 line.
Can I switch both channels independently?
Yes, in switch mode, both channels can be controlled completely independently. In blind mode, both channels are combined for one motor and separate switching is no longer possible.
Is a neutral wire mandatory for AC power?
Yes. The module requires a phase (L) and neutral wire (N) for AC power. If the neutral wire is missing behind your switch, this device is not suitable for that location. Check this in advance or consult an electrician.
Does the 2PM Gen3 work with Apple HomeKit?
Not natively. The Gen3 line does not support Matter, so direct HomeKit pairing is not possible. For HomeKit support, the Shelly Gen4 variant is the appropriate choice.
