Nous C1 Zigbee Wireless 4-Button Switch

No outlet, no wiring, no electrician: the Nous C1 is a wireless Zigbee 4-button switch that you can mount anywhere you need it. Each button responds to a single press, double press, and long press, allowing you to link up to 12 independent actions in Home Assistant. Stick it next to the couch, by the bed, or at the front door and control any Zigbee device in your home without pulling a single wire.

Power and connectivity

The Nous C1 operates on one CR2430 coin cell battery (included). Communication occurs via Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4, 2,400–2,483 GHz); the device is a Zigbee EndDevice and requires a Zigbee coordinator, a Tuya Zigbee gateway, or Homey. 4 buttons, 12 actions

The C1 has 4 physical buttons, each with three action modes: single press, double press, and long press (hold). Via Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA in Home Assistant, all 12 combinations are available as separate triggers for automations. Link a single press to turn a light on/off, a double press to a scene, and a long press to an alarm or timer; fully configurable to your liking. Mounting

Attach the C1 to any flat surface with the included double-sided stickers. The casing measures 86 x 86 x 13 mm and fits seamlessly next to an existing light switch. No tools, no drilling, no wiring required.

Home Assistant

The Nous C1 works via Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA, completely locally without a cloud. The device is Tuya-compatible and is recognized in both platforms without additional configuration. All 12 press actions are available as triggers in HA automations. Local control is confirmed; the cloud is not required after pairing.

Pairing procedure via Zigbee2MQTT

• Set Zigbee2MQTT to pairing mode via the interface or the HA dashboard.
• Hold button 3 on the C1 for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly; the switch will now enter pairing mode.
• The device will automatically appear as Nous C1 in Zigbee2MQTT.
• In HA, go to Settings > Devices & services > MQTT; the switch will appear as a new device with an action entity.

Entities after pairing via Zigbee2MQTT: action (button_1_single, button_1_double, button_1_hold, button_2_single, etc.), battery (percentage), battery_low (warning). Local control confirmed, cloud is not required.

Pairing procedure via ZHA

• In HA, go to Settings > Devices & services > ZHA > Add device.
• Hold button 3 on the C1 for 10 seconds until the LED flashes.
• ZHA will recognize the device; all press actions are immediately available as device_triggers in automations.

Nous Smart Home app

Via the Nous Smart Home app and a compatible Tuya Zigbee gateway (e.g., Nous E1, E7, or E15), you can link the C1 to scenes and automations within the Tuya environment. Add the device via the app under the Smart Switches > Nous C1 category. Alexa and Google Home can be linked via this app for voice control.

Homey

NOUS has an official app available for Homey via the Homey Appstore (actively maintained). Check the app page for the current list of supported devices to confirm that the C1 is listed. Other platforms

Via the Nous Smart Home app, the switch can be linked to Alexa and Google Home. Apple Home is not directly supported; indirect linking via Home Assistant and Homebridge is possible.

Automation examples

Example 1 – Bedroom switch next to the bed

• Button 1 single: turn the bedroom light on or off.
• Button 1 long: dim the light to 10% for night lighting.
• Button 2 single: turn off all lights in the house.
• Button 2 long: activate the "Goodnight" scene (all lights off, alarm on, thermostat to night mode).

Example 2 – Advanced scene control per button

• Trigger: action is button_3_double (double press on button 3).
• Condition: time is after 18:00.
• Action: activate "Movie night" scene: lower all lights to 20%, close the blinds via smart blinds and turn on the television via a smart plug.

Points of attention

• A Zigbee coordinator, Tuya Zigbee gateway, or Homey is required; the switch does not work standalone.
• The C1 is a Zigbee EndDevice and does not strengthen the Zigbee network; ensure sufficient Zigbee Routers (mains-powered devices) are nearby for a stable connection.
• Only suitable for indoor use; maximum humidity 90% RH.
• Battery (CR2430) is included in the package.

Yes, the C1 is a Zigbee EndDevice and does not work standalone. You need a Zigbee coordinator (such as the SMLIGHT SLZB series in combination with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA), a Tuya Zigbee gateway for use via the Nous Smart Home app, or Homey for use via the official Nous Homey app.

How many actions can I link to the Nous C1?

Is the battery included?

Can I mount the C1 outdoors?

No, the Nous C1 is only suitable for indoor use. The maximum humidity is 90% RH and the operating temperature is between -10°C and 45°C. For outdoor applications, waterproof wireless switches with a higher IP rating are required.
