2. How is the door lock powered and what happens if the batteries run out?

The lock operates on 4x AAA batteries (not included). When the voltage is low, the lock will provide timely optical and acoustic warnings. If the battery does run completely flat, you can always open the door with the included mechanical keys or temporarily supply power via a power bank to the USB-C emergency port.
