Add critical gas detection to your Apollo AIR-1
Your indoor climate is more than just temperature and humidity. Invisible and odorless gases can have a serious impact on your health and safety. The Apollo MiCS-4514 gas sensor adds a professional measurement layer to your Apollo AIR-1 multisensor . This compact module is specially designed to work seamlessly with the AIR-1 and gives you the tools to truly make your home safer and healthier.
Why is this sensor an essential upgrade?
-
Triple Gas Detection : The MiCS-4514 measures three important gases:
- Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) : Often from traffic. May irritate the respiratory tract.
- Carbon monoxide (CO) : A life-threatening gas that can be released during incomplete combustion (central heating boiler, water heater).
- Methane (CH4) : The main component of natural gas. Useful for detecting gas leaks.
- Seamless integration with the AIR-1 : This module is a dedicated add-on for the Apollo AIR-1. The add-on simply clicks into the appropriate socket on the housing and connects with the included cable .
- Perfect for Home Assistant : Once installed, measurements are instantly available in Home Assistant via your AIR-1's ESPHome integration. Completely local, for maximum privacy and reliability.
- Create life-saving automations : Use sensor data not only for monitoring, but also to actively intervene in dangerous situations.
Please note: Important information about methane measurement
It's important to understand how the methane sensor works. The manufacturer indicates that this measurement is best viewed as a "present/not present" indicator rather than a precise PPM (parts per million) measurement. Tests have shown that the methane reading can spike when exposed to high concentrations of other gases. This makes it perfect for detecting the presence of a gas leak, but less suitable for measuring exact concentrations.
Practical application: automatic safety and air quality
Install the MiCS-4514 module in your Apollo AIR-1. Then create the following automations in Home Assistant:
If the sensor detects a dangerous spike in carbon monoxide (CO) levels, immediately activate a siren, send a critical alert to all phones, and flash red lights. If the sensor detects the presence of methane (CH4) , send an alert to check for a possible gas leak.
